Krystal Nelson, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Krystal Nelson joined Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) in 2014 as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, bringing nearly three decades of leadership experience across the public and private sectors. Since joining BSNC, she has overseen significant growth and operational transformation, helping guide the company from $200 million in annual revenue to more than $900 million. In her role, she provides executive oversight of BSNC’s operating subsidiaries, contracts, and corporate initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission to empower its shareholders through economic development, cultural stewardship, and community investment.
Nelson has extensive experience managing large-scale federal, state, and municipal contracts, union negotiations, and leading teams of more than 2600 employees. Prior to BSNC, she held senior leadership positions at another Regional Corporation, where she developed a deep passion for the mission-driven culture of Alaska Native Corporations.
Earlier in her career, Nelson served as a Legislative Aide in the Alaska State Legislature, where she gained firsthand experience navigating government processes and public policy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
