Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is dedicated to investing in our shareholders, descendants, communities, and our culture and heritage. We support programs and organizations that provide long-term benefits and positively impact Our People. Through giving and volunteer service, BSNC proudly contributes to various causes, focusing on:

  • Health, wellness, and sobriety
  • Youth development
  • Education
  • Homelessness
  • Traditional food security
  • Traditional arts and culture 
  • Community support

Cultural Program Fund

The Cultural Program Fund was created to support initiatives that preserve and promote the culture and heritage of the Bering Strait region, its shareholders, descendants and local communities. This fund is dedicated to assisting organizations and groups whose efforts align with BSNC’s mission. Priority will be given to initiatives that positively impact the Bering Strait region and/or actively support and preserve regional culture, heritage and related activities. Examples of eligible activities include: 

  • Cultural camps, festivals, and programs
  • Traditional singing, dancing, and language programs
  • Workshops on traditional skills (e.g., fish cutting, skin sewing, tool making, regalia)
  • Community subsistence support (e.g., freezers, life vests, fishing gear; excludes guns/ammo) This support is not meant for individuals.
  • Cultural events (e.g., Native Youth Olympic Games, Native Art Bazaars)
  • Traditional food safety and security activities

Request Application Process

To apply for funding, submit a request through the BSNC Charitable Contributions Request Form or request a PDF application from donations@bsnc.net. Requests are evaluated based on legitimacy of the requesting organization, alignment with focus areas, and budget. Most requests receive a response within two weeks.
