Cindy Towarak Massie, President
Cindy Aġnaqhiq Towarak Massie is President of Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) and a shareholder of Unalakleet Native Corporation. Inupiaq and raised in Unalakleet, Alaska, she is the daughter of the late Clarence and Guerie Towarak. Massie has served on the BSNC Board of Directors since 2019, holding roles as Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chair before being elected President in 2023.
She also serves as President of the Beringia Settlement Trust, CEO of BSNC Regional Services, LLC, and Director of BSNC Government Services, LLC, where she helps guide the corporation’s strategic direction. In addition, she serves on the boards of the Alaska Federation of Natives and the ANCSA Regional Association, advancing advocacy and collaboration on behalf of Alaska Native peoples.
Massie graduated from Covenant High School in Unalakleet and attended Seattle Pacific University. Her business leadership includes co-founding Outdoor Channel Holdings, owning Winnercomm Inc., a production and program development company that earned 13 Emmy Awards, and contributing to the development of Skycam, the cable-suspended camera system that transformed live sports coverage.
Deeply committed to philanthropy, Massie is President and Trustee of the Thomas and Cindy Massie Foundation, through which she and her husband Tom have supported educational, cultural, and community initiatives across Alaska. Their generosity was recognized in 2018 with the Alaska Federation of Natives Small Business Award.
Outside of her professional roles, Massie maintains a strong connection to the land through subsistence activities such as gathering berries, fishing, and hunting. These traditional practices strengthen her spirit and ground her leadership in Inupiaq cultural values.
