March 19, 2021by Media

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is pleased to announce the promotion of shareholder Lucille Sands to Vice President of Shareholder Development. As Vice President of Shareholder Development, Sands works to align shareholder development with organizational goals and business needs, recruit shareholders and descendants for open positions, source qualified shareholders and provide ongoing review and metrics related to open positions and hiring of qualified shareholders.

“Lucille has demonstrated her ability to help BSNC continue to achieve its mission and grow its value by leading the Company’s efforts to effectively implement our shareholder hire policy and highlight opportunities for shareholders and descendants,” said BSNC President & CEO Gail R. Schubert. “Lucille is deserving of this position and I am pleased to see her fill a seat on the Executive Team.”

“It is a great honor to serve our Board and shareholders,” said Sands. “It has been a pleasure to learn and grow within the Corporation, and I value the Corporation’s demonstrated commitment to shareholder hire and development. Opportunities such as these have been made possible through the tireless dedication to growth of the Corporation and the accompanying resources that have been dedicated to shareholder hire and benefits – I am truly grateful to the Board and leadership team for working hard to build out current and future opportunities for our shareholders. I will continue to work hard to add value to the Corporation and advocate for Our People.”

Sands has been employed by BSNC for many years, and has worked across many departments, which enhances her ability to assist management in meeting our commitment to shareholders and descendants. Sands previously served as Shareholder Development Director for BSNC.

She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governor’s University, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Minor in Alaska Native Business Management from the University of Alaska Anchorage and an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Sands was recently appointed by Governor Dunleavy to the State of Alaska Workforce Investment Board.
