Celebrating the Success of Bering Straits Native Corporation Summer Interns!

August 3, 2023by Media

What an incredible journey it has been for our Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) interns this summer! With the guidance of our esteemed executive leadership, dedicated staff, and the support from our BSNC Shareholders, these interns have embraced every opportunity for personal and professional development.

Throughout their internship, these outstanding individuals have demonstrated unmatched dedication to their growth, leaving a lasting impression on our workforce. Their contributions have been invaluable, leaving a positive impact on various departments at BSNC and our family of companies.

Over the summer, BSNC provided many enriching activities, including professional development workshops and culturally significant training sessions.

Their learning experiences have been truly exceptional, learning about the history of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) from the influential, Willie Hensley, to exploring the intricacies of Government Contracting with BSNC’s Proposals Director, Cathi Peterson. They had the opportunity to learn more about their culture with at the Alaska Native Heritage Center with shareholder Paul Asicksik and learn beading with Shareholder Development Specialist Glenn Ivanoff. They also toured BSNC subsidiary Central Environmental Inc. Guest speakers from diverse fields shared their wisdom, making this internship a holistic and unique experience.

We also take pride in our commitment to cultural heritage, and as part of that, we had the pleasure of inviting BSNC shareholders to provide cultural training. The interns had the joy of learning the Inupiaq Language with lessons from the wonderful shareholder, Josie Bourdon. Lauryn Nanouk-Jones, our Media and Communities Intern, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Josie, sharing memories of her grandmother and relishing the opportunity to learn and preserve the Inupiaq language.

At BSNC, we uphold core values that stem from the rich culture of Our People. We honor our commitments, empower one another, respect diversity, and lead with responsibility. These values are at the heart of everything we do.

Join us in celebrating the accomplishments of each intern during their summer internship program. We are immensely proud to be part of their journey and to contribute to nurturing and empowering the next generation of talented professionals.
