A Message from the Interim President and CEO

July 26, 2023by Media

First, hello. As you know, the BSNC Board of Directors appointed me to serve as Interim President and CEO of Bering Straits Native Corporation in late May. It is a position I was honored and humbled to accept. While this is my first opportunity to introduce myself to you in this new role, I have already had the pleasure of meeting many of you over the past nine years that I have been part of BSNC’s leadership team as Executive Vice President.

Over that time, I have embraced and worked to embody BSNC’s wonderful culture and values. I observed and learned from many of BSNC’s great experienced leaders, including its Board of Directors, and I am thankful to continue to work alongside them in this new role. I will lean on them for guidance and assistance as we lead BSNC forward, together.

Over the course of my extensive 28-year career, I have had the privilege of working within multiple Alaska Native corporations (ANCs). I have witnessed firsthand how ANCs have fostered growth and prosperity within their respective communities. They have spearheaded economic development initiatives, created job opportunities and facilitated sustainable business practices that empower shareholders and their descendants. This multifaceted experience has honed my ability to understand the nuanced dynamics of ANCs and has equipped me with the skills to navigate the intricate challenges they face.

While it is currently unclear how long I will hold this Interim role, I do know the corporation stands ready to grow further on a foundation that has never been stronger thanks to the incredible work of the Board and leadership. During this time, I hope to advance two simple, but critical objectives: continue the hard work and steady leadership that has been key to BSNC’s success and strive to maintain a strong connection between BSNC and our shareholders. I believe that starts with a simple reminder each day that we are here because of you and for you. It is with that in mind that we must conduct our work each day.

As we move BSNC forward, we do so together. More than ever, I am eager to meet, listen to and learn more from shareholders about what BSNC means to you and how we can continually work to improve the corporation to better serve you. It is a privilege and an honor to lead this great corporation alongside so many great people. You have my commitment that under my leadership, BSNC will work tirelessly for the benefit of you, our shareholders, with the wisdom of those that laid the groundwork before us.

I hope you have a bountiful summer.

Thank you,
Dan Graham
BSNC Interim President & CEO
