BSNC recently donated $250,000 to the Nome Community Center for the HomePlate Nome Apartments. The HomePlate project will include 15 studio apartments built for single occupancy, and an onsite unit for the property manager. The Project is designed to provide a path toward housing permanency for Nome’s most vulnerable, chronically homeless population. The apartments will be located on 6th Avenue near the baseball fields adjacent to the Nome Recreational Center. Construction is expected to be completed by December of 2023, with a projected move in date of January 2024.
“BSNC is pleased to provide this donation to the Nome Community Center in support of its efforts to provide safe, warm housing for the unhoused,” said BSNC President & CEO Gail R. Schubert. “Homelessness and affordable housing are serious concerns in our region and rural Alaska. We are pleased to participate in the effort to help address Nome’s critical housing needs for this vulnerable population.”
