Anchorage, AK –– The Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) board joined several other Native organizations from across the state today by endorsing Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s write-in bid for the US Senate. This is the first time the organization has voiced public support for a candidate.
“Sen. Murkowski has a proven track record working on behalf of both rural and urban Alaskans,” Henry Ivanoff, BSNC’s board chair said. “She has worked hard to represent all Alaskans, working diligently on issues important to Alaska – responsible natural resource development, maintaining a strong military presence in Alaska and advocating for higher performing schools in our most challenged school districts. She needs our help to continue her work on our behalf.”
“Sen. Murkowski’s historic write-in bid has garnered support from diverse Native organizations statewide because of her long track record working with the Native community on issues important to us,” said Gail Schubert, BSNC’s Chief Executive Officer. “She’s earned our respect and we’re proud to support her candidacy.”
